The Arts Council withdraw funding for Sligo Art Gallery

 In the current financial environment, The Arts Council have decided to cease ongoing funding for the gallery.  

The Council acknowledges the significant role Sligo Art Gallery has played in the provision of the visual arts supports for both artists and audiences in Sligo for many years.

However in the context of the current difficulties, The Arts Council has decided to consolidate and focus its support and regrets it cannot provide ongoing funding to the Gallery.  

In view of the above and in the absence of any other source of major funding the gallery is obliged to cease trading as of May 2010.  

The current exhibition, Yeats and the Golden Age of Print will run until the end of April 2010.  

The gallery wishes to acknowledge and thank the artists, friends and organisations who have supported the gallery over the years.
